Industrial Arts

These are some of the programs offered through the Tech Ed program here at N.E.W Lutheran High. There is one class offered a semester. These classes take place at either the Preble High School Shop or at NWTC. 

Courses Offered: Description
Power Mechanics This class is designed to give the student a head start in the mechanical field. The students will be educated in ways to fix and repair engines and so on. 

Woodworking

Woodworking is a class that will teach the students how to do proper woodworking techniques and how to use the tools properly. They will learn how to use a computer program to make a design and cut it out of a piece of wood. They will also learn how to use a lathe to cut out figures, like table legs and the arms for chairs. 

Basic Electricity

This class is designed to give the students a basic understanding of electricity. In this class you will learn how to do some of the basic house wiring that electricians may do when putting up a new house or repairing one. You will also learn how to do some basic car wiring. For example: how to put a car stereo in your own automobile. You will also learn how to fix some minor problems in your vehicle like a taillight that wont work. 

Plastics

Plastics is class where the students can use different kinds of machines and different kinds of plastics to make different kinds of items. They will learn how to use Auto Cad to make designs and send them over to a laser cutter which will then cut the object just like they had drawn it out on Auto Cad. They also learn how to mix two kinds of solutions that will react together to make a hard plastic. They mix the solutions together and pore them into a mold and then after a while the solutions react and form a hard plastic that is in the shape of the mold.  

Welding

This class is offered for students interested in the mechanical occupations or as a professional welder. They will learn how to use a couple of different welding types and techniques. Some examples are stick welding and torch welding. They will also be learning how to weld the proper way so that they can get the perfect weld every time.
