Grades will be based on effort, daily participation, projects,
attitude and skill.
Art I - (2 Semesters) Grades 9-12
Exploratory experiences in Art give the student an opportunity to familiarize themselves with various media used in Art. Assignments include sketching, color fundamentals, perspective, simple ceramics, glazing process, commercial design, calligraphy, wire design, painting (acrylic and watercolor), and matting. Art history, art appreciation, and art criticism are incorporated through out the course.

Art II - (2 Semesters) Grades 10-12
Prerequisite: Art I
Expanded version of Art 1 but includes an in depth, detailed look at all
assignments. This course is designed to fine tune existing skills.

Independent Art/Study - (4 Semesters Max.) Grades 11-12
Prerequisite: Art I and Art II with a B average and instructors permission.
The Student will spend the semester specializing in 2 fields of his or her own choice, subject to the approval of the instructor. A major and minor area of work is recommended. For example, a major in watercolor, ceramics, computer graphics, etc. with a minor in painting, calligraphy, caricatures, etc. The major and minor run concurrently over the semester.

The Student is also expected to curate their own one man show of completed projects at any time through out the semester. (Past work may be used in the one man show) The student will also be required to enter one contest or show outside the school setting (church or community).
Students entering into an art career should also take this opportunity to build a portfolio.
