Scrip is a way for people to purchase merchant gift cards from the school and provide an ongoing source of income for the school and tuition relief for school families.
Each merchant provides its own gift card, just like the ones sold in their stores. The Scrip gift card is used instead of cash or check to pay for everyday purchases. There is no built-in surcharge.
The gift cards are purchased at a merchant-determined discount by the school from the merchant and then sold at the full face value to school families. The difference becomes an ongoing source of income for the school and tuition relief for families. The more Scrip that's purchased; the more income for the school and tuition relief for families.
Everyone has to eat, put gas in cars, purchase personal care items, and clothing. Purchase these items at participating businesses using Scrip. Scrip is available at the NEWLHS office. All orders must be accompanied with payment.
For each set discount, NEWLHS receives 50% of the discount as income, and school families receive the other 50% as tuition relief.
For example: A $100 gift card purchased from a merchant providing a 10% discount would generate $5 of income for the school and $5 of tuition relief for the school family.
